Purchased and installed a Tuffy security drawer for the Jeep. http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-282-247-tuffy-jk-conceal-carry-security-drawer.aspx I bought it from Dave at Northridge4x4 for less than 100 bucks along with some other gadgets. It was a very simple install and only took about 10 minutes to install it.

From the looks on the website and looking at similar and cheaper versions I was kind of expecting a drawer that was built like a file cabinet type drawer. I was plesantly suprised that this thing is built like a light duty safe. It is secured by the 2 front seat bolts that take some grunt to get them off. I torqued them down at 45ftlbs with some red locktite so unless the thief shows up with a breaker bar and a certain size socket, they aren't getting this thing out.

The drawer is pretty tight on the slides and does not rattle at all either open or closed. It takes a gentle pull to get the drawer to open and would probably do OK unlocked for driving at slow speeds. However, they warning label says the drawer must be locked while driving. The drawer will touch the brake pedal when fully extended.

The glove box and center console on the JK's do lock but they are just plastic and offer no resistance to theives and would do more damge if they were locked and someone decided they wanted the stuff more than I do and broke open the glove box. Plus I needed a more secure spot to put my pistol on those occasions I don't need to carry it with me. With the seat moved back to where I keep it, you can barely tell the drawer is there and without looking for it most people won't even notice it. I can even open it while sitting in the seat.

I had some left over outdoor carpeting and lined the drawer with it. looks like it came that way from the factory.

Tuffy makes these drawers for both JK's and TJ's along with early Broncos. I'd contact them to see if they can or do make them for other makes. The only thing I wish I had ordered, is the optional combo lock, that way I could lock my keys in the jeep when the doors are off and I'm at the beach or someplace where I could lose the keys easily.
