The fuel pump on the 2.8TGV is set to 24.75mm from flush with the housing to the bottom of the groove in the star wheel (which is used to adjust fuel flow). Here's how to check it.

1.  Take off the housing cover.  The bolts are in tight and you may need some force and a large screwdriver to break each one free.

2. Pull the top off carefully.  You'll find a diaphragm under it.  Make a mark on the diaphram and housing to get it back exactly as it was before when replacing.

3. Very carefully pull out the diaphragm and the post it sits on, set aside.  Make sure you get the little plastic spacer ring (not pictured here as it stuck to the top part of the shaft)

4.  Remove the spring, it can go back either way.
5. Now measure from flush with the top of the housing to the bottom of the groove in the star wheel.

This distance is 24.55mm.
7. Clean anything durtied and put it back in reverse of the way it came apart!
Special thanks to Terry on the 2.8TGV Yahoo group for giving me these instructions
