LC Industries runs base supply shops and stocks the Sceptre designed (but US manufacturer) water cans in OD or sand. Their customer service was superb.

There is a LARGE opening and the cap has a pour spout and the air vent cap. It is exactly the Sceptre design, as that is a military specification. Only difference is the manufacturer.

I think Craig is being a good admin and helping the wayward souls stop hijacking Peter's thread to sell his Wedco water cans.

Just a guess.

I am looking for a source for Sceptre cans, but all of the links I have found in this forum so far are not working any more or the supplier only sells to military contract.

Does anyone know of a up to date source for these cans, both fuel and water.

I'd reccomend the metal military surplus cans instead of the plastic ones. I have both and the metal ones are much much better.

I have a plastic one I'll sell you if you want it though.

I am not sure how much those 'cans' cost but I got German surplus cans from Major Surplus and Survival for $9.95, shipping was $6.95. and one was a gift from a friend. They leak a bit on rough trails and can't be put on their sides.

I have have gotten my metal water can from British Pacific (Land Rover parts and Accessories in Valencia CA 800-554-4133) for $40.00 with shipping for $9.29, they do not leak, and they look just like the Nato cans only blue. I really recommend the metal cans too.

You can also get the metal cans and holders from GarrettWade Tools, but I did not see them in the new catalogue.

Morris,

I also got my metal cans from the surplus link you provided a while back. Mine have been completely leak proof. I wonder if you can get a new seal for yours?

In defense of the plastic ones. My original one leaked, but Nathan (from Pangaea Expeditions) sent me a couple of replacement rings and it stopped the leak.

I think that LC industries link is still good, $15 each, that's where I got mine. You can fit 4 quite nicely on the floor behind the front seats of an XJ. They did leak a tiny bit on their side, but not a problem for me.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of both the fuel and water Scepter cans.  I've used surplus German fuel cans for many years and never looked back after switching to Scepter about 3-4 years ago.  I actually just purchased a few more since I've heard they're going to be almost impossible to get into the US any longer since they don't meet CARB standards.  With the surplus metal, I've run into cap seal issues, serious dents from from rough handling when full, issues with the interior coating flaking off, and the typical difficulty fully attaching the pouring spout.  I haven't had any of these issues with Scepter, and they pour so easily and fast!  Drop a full Scepter off yopur roof rack and it won't dent.

I purchased a couple months back, and a friend heard they're not available at all any more, but it never hurts to try if you want Scepter.  I've used https://dstactical.com/.  DS Tactical is in British Columbia.  Their prices aren't cheap, but they do include shipping.
