| Well, I am officially on the build path of the '04 DII, having sold the XD. I am a little confused by the different reports of recorded heights people have got from their RTE springs (Brent showed me his pictures) so I'm going to go the easy, sure-fire route and get the OME HD lift. I have run 235/85r16's on my DI's and my RRC's, and I really like that look and feel and... But what should I be looking for on the DII? I don't want to throw a huge amount of weight on this time, and... well, what are my options? Also, I'm intereseted in other brands than BFG as long as they wear OK. Thanks. |

| 265/75 w/ a 2" lift works perfectly on a DII. That is by far the most popular combination. It's what Max has on his DII, Ho has on his G4, etc.

| Larry has it on his DII as well. Running Toyo Muds 265/75/16. I think it's the ideal setup for a DII up here. |

| Yeah, I like your's, Larry. Are those the same as the Les Schwab Open Country M/T's? The Toyo site says L.S. sells them, but their web site doesn't name them as Toyo by brand. I also like the other tires, Cooper? In this picture. That reminds me, I ran these tires by Avon, in 235 on my DI and really liked them. The BFG's are good tires, but at $200 per........ |

| I am runing 275/70/18 on my DII with a 3 inch lift. The Toyos are gret but expensive at 250 ish for the tire. I just got some new BFG Mud KM2's for my classic which I wheel most. The new version of the BFG's (KM2) are based after there ever popular Rock Crawling tire but with some extra blocks cut in half to improve ther performance for not only mud but Rocks as well. The tires came out early last year in a limited size run. Then released quite a few more this last fall, but ran out quick as to there popular debut. They have increased the side wall and done a few more things to make them more reliable than their old mudders. Old ones were nice too, new tread designs come with more data to back decisions on pattern density and placement. Most of the other tires out there are 5 to 10 year old designs. Oh I know Brent was running 285/75/16's on his DII. Not sure as to his lift 2' or 3'? I bought my BFG's at Desert Rat. They were the only ones who had them in stock back in January. BFG has been out of them for a while. A great place to get online pricing on most tires is www.tirepackage.com. They have a site in Portland so you can pick them up and avoid the shipping charges. Les Schawb mounted and balenced them for me even though they don't carry the BFG's. |

| Tirepackage does have good prices. Thanks.
I saw an '04 with OME HD and the Toyo muds this morning on the way to work (yes, I talked to the owner while at a stop light) and it looked like a good set up.
According to the tire size calc, the 235/85's are almost the same size as the 265/75's, just a little thinner. So the 265's are probably a good fit for the slightly wider stance of the DII -- just speaking of the looks. |

| Yep that's them, got them from Les Schwab. I think these Toyo's are probably the best tire I've ever ran, however they are very pricey. |

| Ben,
Good luck on your project. I really like the look of the Kumho Road Venture MT KL71. I don't know how well they perform in terms of traction or clean-out. They are relatively inexpensive when compared to other comparable tires. I was really interested in the cooper discoverer STT. I used to work on the yakama nation indian reservation and most of the GSA trucks were running them. Some of the tires were loosing large chunks of rubber on the gravel roads, and were wearing rather quickly. I don't know if this is normal, though. The BFGs that some of the other trucks were running did not seem to have this problem. Here is a picture of the kumhos.. |

| How much clearance do the 265/75/16's need? Would they fit on a stock DII till I could get around to buying the lift? 1", 2", more?
Thanks, |

| Ben, Based on my rig....the 265/75/16's would not fit without the benefit of the lift. I have about 1 1/2 inches of clearence to the front stock bumper with the lift. without the lift it would definately rub. Scott |

| I'm guessing it wouldn't work as well, especially if you have a stock front bumper. Call Brent and get some used springs! |

| I had the 265/75/16s way before I had my lift. Fit just fine. Rubs the radius arms though because of the width. I am hoping to get 255/85's this next round of tires. I know Coopers and BFG's are in this size though I dont know about the availability of them. JK Edit: Trxus Mud Terrains are also in a 255/85 |

| Cool, thanks!
I'm starting to get excited about this project, although I still miss my LWB, I'm going to have fun putting this thing together right. It is more fun to do one from scratch than it is to get one handed down to you. |

| After re-reading everyones posts I realized that I should mention that I had the ARB bumper before my tires so if you have the stock front bumper on there the 265/75 might not fit. Jason |

| Yeah, Might have to be trimmed. I remember seeing pics on Dweeb of stock cars with larger tires, I just cant remember if the 265/75 fit with a stock front bumper.... JK |

| I'm getting 245/75/16's put on this afternoon and I don't have a lift yet. I don't have a stock front bumper either...
I'll post pics in the next couple days. |
