| I just ordered an OME heavy duty suspension kit from GBR in Salt Lake. Does anyone have any must know information about the instalation of this set? I am a fairly competent mechanic and do all my own maintenance so I don't anticipate any issues but any issues that have come up for anyone else is always good information. Thanks,Bert | | |

| No issues. It's a very straightforward install even for a novice mechanic like myself. | | | |

| What did the kit consist of? I was looking at doing this upgrade also but I do not see a kit on their website, just individual components. Thanks!

| If the 'Rover has coilovers, and they're anything like a 1997 4Runner's coilovers...I'd find a shop to put them on. | | | |

| I installed mine on my DII, and that means it's super easy 4 Shocks, 4 Springs, that's it. Here's some helpful videos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pkz0NTMFeYY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrt1FNhVDOs | | | |

| Thanks for the encouragement. Derek, the "kit" was just the 4 OME Nitro Charger shocks and 4 OME Heavy duty springs. I actually called them to check into it because I needed it sooner than I could get it from Rovers North. From GBR it cost $740.00 to the doorstep. and they said I should have it here on this Thursday. They even covered the freight at that price. Oh, the reason for the tight time frame is we are moving to St.George Utah and need to be there by the 9th of Jan. Wanted the heavier springs because I am towing a 22' Camp trailer with us, and having 235/75-16 Yokohama Geolandar AT-S I get a slight rub when the trailer squats it and I get slightly off camber, ie, entering a parking lot. Oh and It's a good Excuse. | | | |

| I've done it a few times. Easy job. Just remember to set yourself up with the jacks and the spring compressor before you attempt to get it in. Also, use some lubricant on the bolts the night before doing the work. | | | |

| Bill at GBR is a great guy, but for future reference this lift kit is significantly less if you call Todd and buy it from Columbia Rovers and pick it up direct at ARB in Renton, WA (OME is owned by ARB). Plus you'll be supporting our primary sponsor.

| It mostly depends on what condition the underside of your vehicle is in. If you have rust and corrosion I would hit all the bolts with penetrating oil once a day for 2 or 3 days before attempting any work. Heating the bolts a bit with a torch before application helps draw the oil in. The OME kit (850/860 with nitrochargers) went into my FZJ80 in less than an hour in my brother's garage with some air tools. Neither of us had ever worked on 80 suspension before, but it went as smooth as butter- neither of us could believe it. You'll need to have the caster correction bushings (if your setup uses them) pressed in at a shop. I love the improved offroad performance of this setup and tighter street handling over the stock springs. You're going to love it. | | | |

| Not sure about a DI, but I was able to do this job without a spring compressor. You'll have to get creative with the floor jack and bottle jack to get the rear axle pushed down enough to refit the new springs, but other than that it was easy breezy. If you can recruit a 2nd set of hands, it would speed up the job immensly. | | | |

| Pretty much what the others have said. It took me about 4 hours average skills, had a spring compressor but did not use it. It was my first time doing the job. Can't say enough about soaking everything maybe a few times the week before with some good penetrating oil.

| Over the years, I have acquired a strong preference for the scent of PB Blaster. Sometimes I just spray myself with it when I haven't worked on the truck in awhile. I also never put anything back on my truck without using either blue loctite or anti-sieze (as appropriate). Otherwise it will all rust up again in no time. And the install is very straight forward as everyone else said. | | | |

| The only advice I would give you is regarding the replacement of the front shocks. I would unbolt the shock tower and remove the shock with the tower as an assembly. Install the upper mount into the tower then install the tower and shock throught the spring as a unit. Much easier in my opinion. | | | |

| slight setback, I got the parts for a Disco 2. Mine is a '98,(Discovery 1). Evidently the only parts that are interchangeable are the rear springs. Bill at GBR was very apologetic and got the correct parts out today so I should have them on Tuesday. This, of course, delays our trip to Utah by a day or two. On the up side I can stop on the way and drop off the extra parts at GBR. | | | |

| You're moving to St. George?!? I'm soooo jealous. It can get a little warm in the summer, but it could be worse.
As everyone has said, the suspension swap is easy. You probably won't need a coil spring compressor, especially if you disconnect the sway bars to allow max axle droop. As others have mentioned, spray some penetrating oil into them bolts! You won't regret it. I also would like to pimp Kroil's penetrating oil. Works much better than PB and less stinky.
Good luck and have a safe move.

| Bert, you can also take a look at this for some pointers: OME INSTALL It doesn't technically exist anymore (Yay Wayback Machine!) but the guidance is still good and it has pictures. :-) Andy, I will take a look for that stuff. The PB does make me loopy some times. | | | |

| Rick,
Kano Aero Kroil. It is the best penetrating oil period. It's expensive but you only need a small amount. It's incredible stuff. | | | |
