I replaced my battery in my truck (LR D2) under 2 months ago, went with the same battery as the old one. (Interstate 34 mega-tron) It is rated as 700 cca (cold cranking amps). Now my truck is at the dealer for a unrelated issue, but they did a battery test and their saying the battery should be 800 cca, but my truck is running at 600 cca.

If anyone can help me understand what does all this CCA mean?

The Interstate site picks the 34 mega-tron as the battery for the Discovery II, but is lower that the recommended CCA, hmmm??

The only thing connected to the battery is 4 overhead lights and 1 worklamp, all on 2 wires. (hardly ever use the roof rack lights)

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

What is the issue? You never pointed that out. If you are asking what Cold Cranking Amps are then the answer is:
Cold Cranking Amps is a rating used in the battery industry to define a battery's ability to start an engine in cold temperatures. The rating is the number of amps a new, fully charged battery can deliver at 0° Farenheit for 30 seconds, while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts, for a 12 volt battery. The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power of the battery.

Dan...At the time when texting you about the battery, I didn't know the CCA was suppose to be running on the truck at 800. Thanks for the clarification of what CCA means . My truck is at the dealer to get the 3 amigos fixed (under warranty). They did some other tests on the battery thats when they found the low CCA.

Dave,

The MT-34 is the factory recommended replacement and is the same battery that would be installed under LR factory warranty. If you purchased the battery 2 months ago and have the receipt Interstate has a 1 year no questions replacement. Just have the dealer print the Midtronics test form out for you so you can get a new one. :-)
