| I know this is quick notice but can anyone tell me if I can get to lake Isabel with a stock disco? If so how do I get there? I live in Mountlake Terrace. |

| The trail terminates before the lake. The trail is also too difficult for a stock Disco.

| Mark, I went on this trail with a pair of stock discoveries and my modified Discovery. We made it up a fair bit but without a winch there are some hard sections without completely modifying the trail. Rick has been known to make it to the bridge in a mostly stock D2. That being said, if your goal is the lake, you won't be making it. But if you want a good trail that gets harder and will be a good tet without much huge danger, it's a good quick run. All this rain might have swelled May Creek a lot though. If the water looks too high, don't even think of it, it's not worth it. |

| Mark, I grew up in MT-Town! (Picture my hands making an M and T sign.) The Lake Isabel trail is not terrible. Peter and Craig are right in waving you away in a stock Disco. There are a few spots that could do damage. The "creek" is probably more like a river right now. If Peter is recalling one of the times I did it with him, the Discos were stock--except for a lift and 32" tires. I'll follow up with a few highlight pics later.
To your question, the trail starts in the Reiter Pit complex and heads North across May Creek (a river at times). Reiter is located East of Gold Bar on US2. Turn left at Reiter Road and stay to the right at the first fairly sharp left. It isn't far.

| ahh yes - a stock RRC running a few quarts low on oil will make that trail just fine. lmao well, i hacked the fenders to fit 32's. other than that it was stock, swaybars, noisy lifters 'n all x-) edit: found the pic!! Stock RRC - > 800 RTI. look at the sunshine on the top of that 32" tire - those are the woodhead shocks, too! as I recall I made every obstacle that day unassisted and with open diffs. no body damage, either. well, none that was worth mentioning I'm sure

| HA! Ike, I remember meeting you in Fremont and being jealous of how clean and beautiful that truck was.... All the leather and wood... Before the first dent. I should have bought you another beer and talked you out of it.... sniff... like saving a kitty from from a Doberman....
Mark, Lake Isabel is a great trail! Meet up with someone who knows it and you'll have a great time. Really. |

| Mark, don't worry. That wasn't 2003. And Dan got a free ride home with a truck driver that day. |

Depending on the weather and how you tackle "humping rock", you could probably make the bridge in a "mostly stock" Disco without too much drama. Beyond the bridge is a different story.
Peter, just to refresh your memory, my last axle shearing occurred just below the end of the trail up near the lake. Almost made it. Dagnabit. |

| "mostly stock" like Katka's D1 and the CAN OPENER incident? :-o Really a good set of mud terrains or Geolander A/T II's should be minimum equipment highway terrains and open-diffs is going to be tough going no matter how you dice it. |
