I was curious if anyone else is going down to the Overland Expo for 2011.

I am not going to be able to explore as much as Brian (I apologize if thats not who did that trip, I cant find the thread again) did in the Sportsmobile. But I am going to head down on a Wedneday and be back on a Wednesday (ish) and wanted to know if anyone else is going down there next year. Im trying to advance my photography, so I plan to document the EXPO for 2011 with photos from the event and a timelapse of the entire trip.

Heres the thread on Expo about Washington guys making the trip.

My plans so far were to head down through Oregon and Nevada and then come back on I-5.

Just made my purchase recently.

I'm thinking of meandering (sort of) down, probably leaving Tuesday after work from Corvallis. Coming back will be through San Diego (wife's family) and a couple days there. Would be up for company and common camping/stoping spots on the way down. Haven't picked a route, but was thinking Oregon/Nevada and avoiding I-5 since I've done that too many times and will be taking it coming back anyway. Nothing's set in stone as I haven't gotten the time off from work yet (waiting until after I finish the Christmas time off, before asking for more :P )

Cheers,

Well oddly enough I was thinking of traveling the exact opposite route (I-5 First and Nevada Oregon Home). But there is safety in numbers so I am sure I could go to other way.

I was originally thinking about this route for the Nevada Oregon portion. But now a friend of mine who has traveled it is highly recommending swinging through Reno, just to break up the Miles upon Miles of blank dessert.

I had been thinking of going through LA on the way down for the possibility of convoying to Amado on the last leg with EXPO members (I have not posted anything over there about that so its not a big deal to change).

I sadly don't have the benefit of lots of time so I cant meander too much. But having another vehicle in the convoy would be more interesting.

I would like to be able to pull over and shoot photos from time to time. But other than that Id be interested in a convoy.

I'm definitely leaving Corvallis, OR after work on Tuesday (somewhere between 3:30 and 6) and heading on down. If that timing works for anyone else, I'm more than happy to convoy. Just let me know and we can try to arrange it.

Coming back, I'll be in SoCal for a few days and then wander the coastal roads back up over the following week.

Cheers,
