Went out to the Wenas wildlife area with a group last weekend. Weather was perfect, roads were very muddy in some areas, still a fair amount of snow up at the higher elevations. The Disco made it through without getting stuck so I was happy about that :)

| Terrance, check with Louis De La Cruz and Max Chapman on here; Louis was trying to get out before shipping out, and we talked about this area. I was trying to plan something but will be tied up for a few weeks. Colockum could be bad with snow and Quilomene is closed, Wenas/Durr area may be the ticket. Call the Wenas office for info on what is OK to travel on on what they'd prefer you to stay off of if its soft (its all green dot marked but some areas are pretty vulnerable). (509) 697-4503. They're nice folks with good info. Note there is still an elk closure on parts of the Wenas: "Each winter the Cleman Mountain unit of the wildlife area is closed to all public access for the protection of wintering elk. The closure begins upon initiation of supplemental feeding, typically in early to mid-December, and reopens May 1." See http://wdfw.wa.gov/lands/wildlife_areas/wenas/ for details or better just call them |

| x2 on giving them a call before heading out. We did run into some locked gates which threw off our exit route a bit. This was my first time out in this area, so I couldn't give you any specifics as to where those locked gates were located. |

| well not looking good for this trip. the snow level is supposed to be down to 2500 ft in most of that area on saturday. I have a loop in mind but i havent been able to get a hold of any one out there to check on the status of some of the gates. i may just drop this one and plan on doing it when the weather is better and all the areas are open. |

| If I hadn't already been roped (no pun intended) into taking the boss to the rodeo this weekend, I would have been all over this!
If you're interested in going in the next few weekends, post up, I'll see about getting out there. 4/9 is looking pretty clear... |

| im up for either this weekend or the 9th. or heck even both. i will try again to get in touch with the people at wenas and see if there is any where we should avoid. if i cant get ahold of them we can try the green dots and see which are passable. |

| Unfortunately this weekend is a no go for me.
I'll get some fidelity on my schedule over the next few weeks, but I'm certain that either next weekend or the weekend of the 9th I'll be available for a run. School starts on Monday, so everything will be shifting for me.
We ran the green dots a few weeks ago without any issues, and it was a good time. There are a ton of roads up in Wenatchee that may or may not be open as well. We could look into the green dots, maybe Manastash Ridge? (that might be closed, yet)

| i had too much going on at work and was unable to call. Scott if you are up to it i would like to atleast run the Durr Rd and the Umtanum Ridge Rd. there are a coupple other places i wanted to try out, we can take a look at the map in the morning and see what we think of it. for me it is quicker to get to the north end of the Durr Rd in Ellensburg. We can meet up at the starbucks right off of exit 109 (canyon Rd) on the north side of I-90. I will be listening to 146.46 on the ham, my call sign is KF6IAO, and on my CB on channel 5. Michael, i am busy next weekend, but i think i will put a formal even on the calendar for the 9th in the same area and go off of what we learn tomorrow. Pretty much all of the surrounding areas are closed until 1 May for elk i believe. |

| My bad Scott. I should have paid attention to where you were from. Ok the 9th it is. that will give me more time to set up a route and let more people join. I will start an event. |
