So I finally started to trouble shoot my rear window defrost issue and have come to the realization that the little parts I thought were scratches through the element are actually just the few little pieces of element that are left. Does anyone out there have a good rear window or rear hatch with a perfectly funtional rear window element in it. Let me know how much. I am trying to decide how much this is worth to me, but it is very nice to be able to see out the back window.

thanks

This is the tough catch, my hatch is really pretty much perfect. I just need the rear defroster elements. Have you ever taken one of these hatches apart to remove the glass. I have a friend who is a glass guy and he said it looked like kind of tough piece of glass to replace. Has anyone had any good luck with a replacement stick on aftermarket element?

thanks

Replacing the whole hatch is the easiest. You can get an aluminum hatch frame kit if you want to permanately fix the rust issue too. Unless Todd still has some lying around at Columbia Rovers, I'd call Gord'n about the hatch. I believe he has several in good shape.

I tried to take one apart once it didn't work so well for me but that one was rusted out. They do make defrost
repair kits that work really well.

My hatch is perfect so I don't really need the aluminum hatch. Any leads on good quality element kits?

thanks

Craig, I bought a kit from JC Whitney several years ago when I owned a military surplus Chevy Blazer. Wasn't as clean as a factory kit, but it worked nice. You might try them.
