| Alright so I have wanted to do something with my rear door panel for some time. A while ago I bought a diamond plate panel for the rear door so my rear door looks like this one (exactly like this one as a matter of fact, I even have the same scuff on the black bin.) I am going to remove the black bin and put a fold down tray instead. I am not 100% on what I will be doing for the tray but this looks like one good option.I dont know yet if i want to get the 16" tray table or 32" table. Any thoughts? 32" might take up too much room on the door. Anyway, I also want to mount a first aid kit on the door if possible. Last night my wife burned herself on her iron and we didnt have any burn cream in the house. I told her " you know, I could get a really good one with everything in it and keep it in the car." She said to do it. Would a door mount first aid kit be practical? Does anyone know of any? What other first aid kits do you guys use or want that wouldnt mount to the door? Let me know if you guys have any ideas for me. Jason K |

| I can't chime in on specific first aid kits other than adventure medical, which I have as a base and added to it. I like the idea of having it not attached so i can take it with me if I need to hike to someone or throw it in my wifes car. |

| I actually just velcro'd my first aid kit to my rear door. Very easy and quick to remove and since it's on the rear door it's always accessable no matter how much junk I am carrying in the truck. |

| Mine is mounted under the dash (below the glovebox) on the passenger side within easy reach. A requirement from pervious groups and other offroad adventures suggested that all emergency items be within easy reach and where someone that did not know the vehicle could find them easily. The fire extinguisher is behind the driver seat, on the wall, in plain view. Mounted so it does not become a missle in an akward situation. |

That would be a mag lite with quick fists or something to that effect. Thats some nice bamboo furniture that I am holding onto for my mother in law for the last year or so.... | I like the flashlight... Craig did a great job with his tray, you should check it out. Have you mounted the Diamond plate yet? The door handle is actuated by a cable so you might be able to move it as long as you figure a good way to mount it. It would be nice if it was out of the way for a bigger tray platform.
I would think mounting the Fire ex and the first aid kit above a bit would be good, but that's just a though. Looks like a workable plan! |

That picture is my vehicle in my garage taken about 20 minutes ago. Here it is without all the child like artistry. I also have an extra panel already cut. Only problem is that the first panel has too large of a cutout for the handle so I put some black vinyl trim around it like what is around the perimeter of the panel. |

| There are a few pics in my build thread. Scroll pas the first set as the shelf was only partially complete at that point. I still plan to mount the fire extinguisher on the top of the rear door by the glass with a billet racing mount, and mount the axe on the rear door shelf. I need a rear cargo net first though. While the mounts I have in mind are very robust, I want a little extra insurance that a fire extinguisher or axe aren't going to wind up in the back of my head. My - partial - Build Thread |

| Jason, it looks like you did some great work there. I personally would recommend mounting the bulky items, like the fire extinguisher and the first aid kit, up high. Try to give yourself as much room as possible to shut the rear door when you have a full load of gear on the floor in back. If you have them low, they will probably constantly be banging into pelican cases, fridges, rolls of sod, garden paver stones, bodies, cases of beer, etc. when you close the door.

| I could have a bigger fold down tray and move things upward on the door which is a good idea Rick. While my second attempt at MS paint is far worse than the first it shows kind of what I am thinking. After going out and looking at the space available I think I would switch the location of the fire ext. and the maglite (dont mind the scale on these two items on my drawing.) |

| Jason,
That last rendition with the fire extinguisher and mag-lite swapped is what I'm going to do. I like the full length shelf. There may be room between the shelf and the window on the left side to put a first aid kit. You just need to pick the right sized pelican.

| That looks good. Heck you can't see out that side of the window anyway because of the spare tire. It might as well serve some purpose. :-)
You rock at Paint. |

| Posted By Craig Miller on 01/08/2009 5:10 PM I need a rear cargo net first though. Have you come up with a rear cargo net solution yet? I used to have one of the factory dog guards but hated it because it rattled. I would love one of the mesh cloth nets that someone like raingler makes for behind the rear seat. I too would feel better about that. |

| I haven't looked yet. I own a dog guard, but there isn't room between my fridge and the backseat to mount it... it's for sale, just not listed anywhere. |

| I've got a source out near Warn that has made me a couple different nets for the D90. Thay can make anything you design, and excellent quality. I've got two for the D90 and had one made to partition the Nissan pick-up bed as well, so if you want to check them let me know. |

| I've got a good list somewhere. Andy has a better one. The best advice I've heard though is carry what you know how to use... same goes for tools.
