The August geocache from 4WD and Sport Utility has an ARB compressor kit.

http://forums.4wdandsportutility.com...ash/index.html

If you find the August marker, it is worth a free ARB compressor kit.

Exact coordinates from the August 2009 issue:

47 degrees 8.7563 N
120 degrees 19.9412 W

A guy on discoweb just checked and it hasn't been found yet (as of today).

Apparently it's in Rock Island east of Wenatchee. How hard is it to find these types of things?

"Apparently it's in Rock Island east of Wenatchee."

Oh really??? Hmmm...

edit: Google Earth points those coordinates to Colockum Pass, which would make more sense if it's a Yakima area find.

Oops, I must've entered the data wrong. I agree on Colockum Pass.

How hard are they to find? Depends. Sometimes you drive right up, get out, and spot them. Other times you drive up, spend 3 hours looking for it and can't locate the darn thing. I bet this one is pretty tough.

If it's not found by then, I'm heading up Saturday.

Heck, even if it's been found already, I still want to check out this "short-cut" to Ellensburg.

I wonder what type of GPS unit they use to define the GPS coordinates? I have a couple sub-meter gps units here at work that could take you to that exact position.

I'm pretty sure they just stand out there with a handheld GPS for a while and take the average.

Good question. In case of competing parties:
On one hand one might want one to protect new found treasure.
On the other one might want to just back out of heated claims who found it first.
Of course there could be third conspiracy that I want to make sure no one can put up much resistance.

Just kidding.

Wish it was a bit less than 300 miles trip for me.

P.S Are you sure on coordinates did you find them yourself in the August issue? Maybe it's a plot to put copetition off the course.

But on serious note. I could get tense. I tell you when on Nevada Trophy another team showed up when we were searching/just found way point we didn't feel like disclosing it's location nor when we showed up with another team on location they were happy. There were not bad behavior or verbal exchanges. I was all hush hush. Yet we were searching for something totally ephemeral.

Yeah, in a competition it does get kinda tense. It's not like you are out there to help each other.

I swung by those cords this Monday and wasn't able to find much but it was a goo reason to get the RRC dusty.

I've got an employee out looking for it tonight. He said he'd throw me some bucks for telling him about it if he can actually find it.

Probably hidden in one of those fake rocks. While I haven't done much geocaching I'm sure this won't be as easy as spot the int'l orange ammo can hehe.
