So the new Verizon netbook is just under $200. Do any of you guys have any experiences with this unit? I wonder if it could be used effectively with Overland Nav? Craig?

Meh, I think you could do better. You have to buy the data plan which adds an additional $960 (minimum) to the cost of the netbook. Local Costcos sell a similar HP with a larger HDD for around $350. If you have a smart phone with a data plan you can run a hack and tether the phone to the netbook and get your mobile interwebs that way. Otherwise it seems like a nice machine.

I have been seeing ads today for the new Dell Mini with Verizon built in.
Not sure what the cost to run one of those is.

Ryan,

I haven't tried to run Overland Navigator on it personally, but several of my customers have Dell Mini's and haven't complained of poor performance.

After going into Verizon today to chceck it out (and get the wife a new phone), I decided Andy was right. Its a nice netbook, but not for the longterm cost of ownership.

At least the truck will look good sitting in the driveway.
