Well,

I screwed around and didn't post anything regarding Thanksgiving dinner which I really wanted to do, as I know you guys have some great turkey and stuffing ideas.

Now I'm not gonna let the Christmas dinner ideas get away!  So post up your time-honored dinner  traditions (even if they're new this year) so we can bask and revel while mentally drooling on ourselves.

And also, since I've been floating around hijacking threads lately, feel free to talk about diesels, guns and beer....in that order ;)

LOL Tom. :)

Tradition wise, we are Norwegian so we eat rice pudding w/ red sauce before Christmas dinner (which is actually the night before Christmas). Traditionally you hide a nut under the pudding in one of the bowls. Whoever gets it wins a Marzipan Pig. We've altered it a little by using a chocolate Santa since nobody really wanted the marzipan.

Craig,
I LOVE rice pudding! My Dad was a pipefitter and one of his jobs was at a "place" up in Seattle that specailized in rice pudding; we ate that for months!!
But I don't know what the "red sauce" is.

K MB, NYS broiled "au natural" or with seasonings? and what about side dishes??  You ain't getting off that easy!!

Growing up in an Italian-American home we have a two day gorge fest. Here are some of the things we indulge in:

Christmas Eve:

Meatless spaghetti sauce with angel hair pasta
homemade pizza
Baccala (salt cod)
fried dough with honey

Christmas:

antipast' platter: salamis, proscuitto, capicola, fontina, olives
turkey
bread dressing
meat dressing
homemade ravioli
braciole
meatballs

Then since we didn't have enough, my mom makes a million different cookies / pastries. The best is called crostoli. It is a thinly rolled out piece of dough that is deep fried and then topped with powdered sugar and honey. I'm salivating thinking about 'em.

WOW MR,

Makes me wanna be Italian/American too!!

For our family, Christmas day was more a matter of timing than heritage....snack 'n' go, snack 'n' go; eat this here, eat that there.  That Crostoli does sound mouth watering though.

In my freezer though, happens to be 12# of Prime Rib Roast!!
