I have  a friend with a full size truck who is looking at changing tires and I was mentioning that I thought 16.5 tires were not as good because they have no bead, I was wondering what the group thinks aout 16.5 vs 17" rims?  would appreciate any thoughts?

thanks

I'd go 17" because of the bead.

she's mighty mighty just letting it all hang out

Word on the street is that manufacturer's are going to quit making 16.5" stuff, tires and wheels.

OK so I guess I am not keeping up with the trends. How is it that a 16.5 has no bead?

Oh, and my vote is either 16 or 17- I agree 16.5 is soon to be obsolete

It appears a few have safety beads but I think many do not.
