I'm going to be buying a CB before the summer, and I want to be able to start out right by having one spot for 12v acessories to patch into.  This way I will only have to splice or connect to the battery once, then just plug the rest of the stuff into the bus.  Anyone have a happy place where they've put a bus before?  Someplace that is easy to get multiple wires to from the cabin would be good.  Pics?

Ben, I'm in the process of rewiring all of my 12V accessories. I just bought one of these:

www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/81192/377%20710/0/fuse%20block/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0

I'm not sure how much room there is on a D2, but the area on the D1 under the steering wheel with the drop away panel has enough room to mount the large fuse block.

The main thing to consider is you need to make sure that the power and ground leads to the fuse block are capable of handling the future current needs.  To be on the safe side, I'm running 4AWG wire to the fuse block to the battery.

That's what I'm looking for. Those will accept 4AWG?

I think I'm going to have to check under the hood some place. I've already go the trailer brake controller under the steering wheel.

It would probably accept larger, but the determining factor in what you can connect to it is the ring terminals for the wire. You'll see what I mean if you get the block. There is a post on top and bottom that the ring terminals get screwed into.

I have those and they will fit 4 AWG. You just need to buy the connector that is 4 AWG with a #10(I believe that's the size) ring terminal. West Marine sells those connectors as well.

I'm using that box too, and Kevan, and, ... Works great.

Mine is in the cargo area and is used for the fridge, worklamp, and anything else back there that needs power.

Craig, what's it like running the wires from there? I'm trying to figure how that might work for a CB (future ICOM) up front.

I don't use it for wires up front. My HAM radio is under the drivers seat and I just ran the wire under the rear door kick panel, up under the carpet over the rear wheel well, and then it is behind the plastic interior panel.
