Has anyone converted the ac compressor into a on board air system? I was wondering what I would need for fittings and lines?

You may want to do some searching and to see if your compressor can be converted.  The compressors people normally use are the recirprocating type.  They have a crankcase with oil in it for lubrication.  Your KJ probably has a rotary compressor which would have oil running through the entire system for lubrication (By this I mean the plumbing and coils of your A/C system).  You would also want to check on the flowrate of your paticular compressor.  Some compressors will not move enough volume to be worth pumping up your tires.

I agree with Ryan. Converting A/C compressors into OBA devices usually involves an older York-style compressor. Even if you could use your current compressor, would you really be willing to lose A/C? Just buy a CO2 tank and be done with it.

There are loads of resources on the Internet. Here are a few:

If I was to do this I would go with a swash plate style (see extremeflow and endlessair). Google "sanden onboard air" and you should get a few ideas. You may also wish to join the www.bc4x4.com forum - lots of OBA projects.

Good luck!
