Hi Folks,

My wife's 2002 Disco II is misfiring and the SES is ablaze.

After a quick diag I figured it is either the plugs or wires...and plugs are easier so they are the first step.

Replacing the plugs on the passenger side was no problem...but the drivers side is another story completely.

While I can work on my Chevy V8 blindfolded working on this Disco II is just plain strange to me, and there is almost no room for big hands in there.

If I could get it to fire somewhat normally I'd just take it down to Columbua Rovers and be done with it, but it's throwing too much gas out the tail pipe.

I've been all over online and I can't find a single step-by-step, walkthrough, or manual that I can get hands on today.

Does anyone have any idea how to change the drivers side plugs?

With big hands I've heard it's easier to just remove the intake plenum to get to the coil pack. I assume that's the part that's giving you the most grief? It's a bear of a job and I hated doing it for each and every plug.

If you're a bit more specific about what issue you're running into on the driver's side, maybe we can be of more help?

I used the flexible ratchet extension. Kind of looks like a u joint. That and a couple different lengths of extensions. Plug wires are a whole different animal and not that much fun.

If you have a volt meter its not too hard to test the wires and the coil packs, you can even get one as a loaner from autozone.  Take off paired plug wires ( ie  1&6 or  8& 5  or 4&7 or 3&2)and set you voltmeter to ohms setting.  Put one of the leads on one plug wire contact and the other lead on the other plug wire contact.  Test all paired plug wires this way and write down the numbers.  The easiest way to check them is against each other.  If one set of wires is way off (most of them should read around 21k ohms) then it will require further digging.
