One of the pinz guys has air vents on the left and right front of his pinz and he put on the forum that these were the same type of vents used on LR's. Lets air into the cab while moving for better air flow and some cooling effect.  It may be an after market thing, not sure.

It is approx. 3 1/2 by 5 and has a rubber type seal, opens from inside with a lever that locks it into position.  It appears to be the type that is screwed or rivited into a hole cut into the body of the vehicle.

Anyone have this type of vent on their vehicle? If so please post a pic and if it is the thing, I would like to know where to get them.

Thanks

I believe they are standard equipment. Try someplace like Roversnorth.com that sells a lot of the older Series parts. Give them a call if you can't find it on their website (not the easiest to navigate).

Morris, if its what Im thinking, then is this what it looks like? If so, it was standard on late 40's early 50's chevy trucks. Those types of cowl vents would definetly work!

Got an email from a friend in near L A and he says they were an option on early Rovers that were intended for tropical use.  Most of the LR dealers now seem to cater to the upscale crowd and these might be really difficult to find.

The search goes on...I will not give up that easily.

These are whats used on Rally cars

I have plans to slap a pair on my Trooper, But I have not ordered them yet. I find moving from a topless, door less windshield down Jeep to a Isuzu Trooper, leaves me melting in all but the coldest weather.

That is about what I want but those are a bit big. Half of that size would be prefect. I don't have the room on the front for those, what with all the other stuff in the way.

Thanks for sending that to the forum. If anyone sees anything like those that are smaller, shoot me a message and I'm going for them.

Morris,

RoversNorth carries classic Land Rover stuff, they have been doing full restorations for decades.  Give em a call.  Other places include:

  • Gordon Perrot at Lamorna Garage in Seattle.  He has an entire garage full of old series parts.  You'll have to call him (see Repair/Restoration shops in the NWOS links section for his contact info).
  • Rovers Down south has a lot of stuff too.  http://www.roversdownsouth.com/
  • Since you are in Colorado, I'd also ask on the Solihull Societies website.  http://solihullsociety.org

They shouldn't be hard too find.  Compared to the pinz, there is a large amount of Land Rover stuff around still.

One of the pinz guys put this up on the forum. This is the thing, just behind the head light.

Tom, this is what you want for expedition travel.
