If you find yourself in a bad spot these are the 5 things you need to concentrate on to survive.

Five keys to Survival
Fire                  Warmth, learn to start a fire.
Signals             Contrast with environment and LARGE
Shelter             Extension of clothing system (Small shelter)
Water               Up to 3 days w/out water. We use 1 gallon a day and lose 1 quart while sleeping.
Food                You can go a long time without food. Mostly psychological. Loss of water is the largest contributor to hypothermia and frostbite.
