Well I got the go ahead to buy a fridge. Just looking for some tips, pointers info on what to buy. I'd say my range is the $800 mark..I am leaning towards the new ARB fridge thats coming out...thoughts?

Actually that's how I sold the wife on it....last year we lost power for about a week and lost everything in the freezer..

Just surfing around..what's the feeling about the Edgestar brand?...seem they all use the same type compressors....

I like the style of the new ARB, but my Engel 45 is working great for me.  From what I've read they are quite similar.

FWIW: We have our 60L running full time at freezer temps. Outside. Under shelter, but still... 

It's fine and it was probably 8+ years old when we bought it used.

da%$ - so busted!!!!!   ROTFLMAO!    I saw salted herring the other day on the Upper West Side, just sittin' there in a big ol pine box!    It was cheap, too!

In all reality I have huge lust for an Engel fridge.    It's just one of those luxuries that makes alot of ...sense?  Cold beer in the desert or the woods is too lucrative to pass up.   What's technology for, anyway?!   I'd gladly run mall terrains for 2 more years to have an Engel.    It fits with my no-lift no-mods ethos.    

Joe - if there's any wine left for breakfast, I probably wasn't there.    Ask Peter what happened to his last box of tastay organic boxed red wine.   I enjoyed it, immensely.

I'd like some Wilkins & Sons Orange Marmalade with Malt Whiskey (or the Apricot Armagnac if that's the best you can do), a 1/2 pound thick sliced Scottish Nova and some smoked Magret duck breasts.

While you're at it, if you're on the East side around 86th & 2nd and wouldn't mind swinging by Schaller and Weber; I'd like a 1/3 lb of lachschinken, a 1/2 dozen landjaeger, some smoked pork chops and a quart 'o' kraut ... ;-P

Seriously though, if you find yourself in the vicinity of E 76th an 2nd go to Sables. The owner worked for Zabar's for years and years before opening his own shop. Smoked fish every bit as good as (I'd argue better than) Zabar's.
