I have had my ARB fridge now for a few years, and I could never go back to an ice chest.
Camped for many years with two ice chests when the kids were young, then tried the Coleman pelteir types that will suck a battery dry in a heartbeat.
Those worked good though in my old tent trailer I had when hooked upt to shorepower like at a state park.
Later we switched to a three way Dometic and I ran that on 12v in the rig driing to where we were going, then hooked it up in the trailer to propane.
It did a good job, but it too would suck a battery dry if you tried to power it that way for a trip. I heard about the swingarm type fridges a few years ago and was sold on them after learning how energy efficiant they were. Have even set it to freeze mode during off road trips and served up icecream bars to the gang
Used it last year up at Mt. Rainier on my vacation, and it was nice to not worry about soggy dripping wet food, as it was quire warm up there in August.
The maximum time I have ran the fridge without starting the rig was close to five days, so they are pretty efficiant on power. If this one ever goes out, I will try the newer designed ARB fridge they just came out with. |
