I have a ton of them I will admit.
A nice Black Diamond three LED headlamp, Pellican dive light (2 C cell) that I bought years ago, 4 D cell Maglite I keep in the rig, and a few other lights as well I have had for some tweny odd years or so.
Probably over twenty flashlights and headlamps, maybe more.

But I have been wanting a bright LED one for a long time, and I ordered some stuff from Cabelas the other day, and the Surefire G2 LED was one of them.

It gets rave reviews on Cabelas site.
I went for the black one, although it comes in yellow too.

I am amazed at the light output from it, 80 lumens,
It is very bright.

Does anyone have this model, if so, do you like it?
It is my first Surefire, and I have heard good things about them for years.

What flashlights do you like that are compact if not this model?

A couple of the guys here at work have those, they are very bright. I have a Streamlight scorpion that I carry and while not LED it is very bright for a compact flashlight.

One of the keys and a downfall, in my opinion, is that they use 2 - 3v batteries, which give great power and light, but are not as cheap or accessible as other options.  Even though this is the case, I still think Surefire makes some sexy lights.

I have a couple Surefire flashlights, and while they are great lights in terms of quality and power, I'm not happy with the avalibility of the batteries and the length of the battery life. If you take one of these lights on a trip, definitly bring a couple sets of batteries, cause they dont last long.
I've switched to a Streamlight Stinger DS LED. For my eyes, its just as bright, but included with the light is a charger, and two rechargable batteries that last far longer than the Surfire. I have yet even use the second battery while on a trip. Quality is also just as good.

I ordered extra batteries, and I already had about six laying around from some safey LED lights called PowerFlare.

They also use the CR123 batteries, I think that is what the Surefire uses.
When I ordered my Powerflares, the guy threw in some extra batteries.
Plus we got these at work as a safety gift after I told my boss how cool they were, and we got extra batteries with them too.

So there is no 3v battery that is rechargable that you could use with these?

I got lucky with the batteries for mine. When I was in Kuwait we used the 123 3Volts to run the night vision goggles. When we were packing to come back we were not allowed to pack any lithium batteries in the sensetive items connex, so all the batteries were turned in or thrown out. I snagged 3 small cases of em and mailed them home. They work great in my flashlight ...Kodak Max 123 lithium battery...

Here is a link to rechargeable 3 volt batteries,  There are some limitations to using them that I believe are explained on the web site.

They also have amazing CREE LED upgrades for Mag lites...  I have them and love them, much brighter than the MagLite and NightIze stuff you will find in retail.

Thanks for the link to the rechargable ones.

I did the 4 D cell Maglite conversion over to the LED module a few years back.
I think this new Surefire will blow it away though.

the cree upgrades they have are phenominal... far better than the other LED upgrades I have tried. I would put it up against my old SureFire G2 (non LED) and expect it to win. not sure about the newer SF LED's...

The 3 D cell Maglite version I have boasts 140 lumens...  not bad for a $20 item.

The 2 AA version boasts 100 lumens at the emmitter.  not sure what at the emitter means in comparison to others...
