 I am sooo disappointed.

My ARB crapped out on a weekend camping trip to the mountains. Luckily there was a store near and the kids coming up on Sat were able to get us some ice. So now I have a $700 ice chest. I had it plugged into 120 at the house for about 6 hours to get it cold and then shifted it to 24v in the pinz. I have been doing this for as long as I have had it.

No action on the 24v plug so I switched it to the 12v plug, (I have two plugs in the pinz, one for each voltage) worked fine for about 4 hours then sort of sputtered, like the compressor was not going to do it's job then just stopped cycling. I usually set it at 1 and it stays at about 40 deg. Turning the knob all the way to the right got no response at all but the light was still on. The fuse is good but the light is very dim. I just turned it off and the next day (today) we came home.

Any tips for diagnosis?

Morris

How long have you had it? They have a pretty decent warranty, just shoot the folks at ARB a note and get their thoughts.

I've had it about 3 years but only have used it maybe 15 times. I looked up the ARB website and it gives me a place in the land of kangaroos.  I plugged it in to the 120v this am, lets see how long it runs.  If it runs on 120v it must be the module for the 12/24v power.

Email Seth Green at sales@arbusa.com. Not sure if it will help or not, but I'd let him know you are an NWOS member in the email.

Seth can forward you to the right person.

 Thanks Craig.

It is running great on the 120v, so must be the DC voltage part that is a problem.

I will send a message to Seth and see what he says.

 Great news.

The folks at ARB are the greatest. I sent the power supply to them, got another back, did not work well.  Nils sent me a new ARB cooler, latest model. Wahooooo.

Now I send the old one back to them, it is boxed up and ready to go to UPS. Nils was very helpful and most understanding about my problem. Now I have to make another holder for the new one as it is bigger than the old model and is configured differently as to location of handles and controls.

Now for a trip....somewhere.

Agreed.  ARB might cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for.  Great products and a great company.

I have installed the new ARB cooler.  Used nutcerts to mount the cooler to the floor of the pinz using two 1.25 x .125 alum bars fastened to the bottom of the cooler feet as it would be if I were using the fancy slide out mount.

It seems very secure and will not move left, right, up or down. Four bolts secure it (two per side) with clearance on all sides for air movement.

Nils was very helpful and sent me a thank you email for returning the old cooler so quickly. There is a three year warranty on this new one. Can't beat that.
