I love my dog, but have no clue what I'd do if he had medical needs.  Any suggestions on where to start learning, what supplies might be appropriate, etc?

Thanks for reminding me because this is something I forgot to touch on. As Dan pointed out, I have the above book and it's great. I really support anything that I have previously supported unless it turns out that that was a bad idea. Therefore, I endorse the use of that book. As for supplies, most things that we can use on people are good for dogs as well. IIRC, the book lists items to include in doggie-style first aid.

Can I use an EpiPen on a dog? Not for medical reasons but just for entertainment?

As stated above what goes in your first aid kit can be used for a dog. Meds such as benadryl should be given carefully by weight. Epi pens would be a pediatric pen. Not for entertainment use.

I know he was kidding, After I wrote it I realized it came across as serious.

He may be some kind of animal, but definitely not an abuser!

Just to add. Ibuprofen should not be given to dogs or cats.

Chuck Norris doesn't always drink beer, but when he does, he has the Dos Equis guy serve it to him in a dress!
