Please let me know if you have one, what your thoughts are on the model you purchased, which model you might reccomend instead, overall impressions, or other day bags that you like instead of the maxpedition.  Or just general thoughts on the subject.  I specifically didn;t mention the one I am looking at to get additional feedback on other options.

Thanks everyone!

I don't have one yet but I'm thinking of the MPB. I've read that it is a good bag and that they have quality products.

I don't have one, but this one will match the camping outfit in your avatar.

Does that tent fit on the roof?

I have one and I think it's marvelous. I have the Jumbo something or other. I can carry lip balm in the outside pockets, junk inside, and it has a pocket to carry a full-frame 1911 with a couple extra magazines. Everything I need for a good time. I think I showed you the bag, Todd, on our last trip; however, you might have been "impaired" to some extent so I'd imagine the details are fuzzy.

Nope, your bag was my inspiration on it and largely why I am looking into one.  But I wasn;t sure which model you had or if you might reccommend another.

Now to the other guys, Craig's first bag is just my style. but can I fit a full size auto in it to counteract the teasing I might get from the guys in the gym?

Man sac, and not the chicken skin kind...  Primary purpose would be to carry light gear and a firearm at the ready.  Mainly off road wilderness stuff but also around town and to the ballet...  Err, I mean car shows and hunting expos...

I have the Maxpedition Condor II and am quite happy with it. Fits my full size 1911 nicely along with 2 xtra mags. I was dissapointed that it didn't come with the Camelback bladder but that was an easy fix.

Construction is solid, I'm not easy with it and there are no signs of wear after a year of ownership.

It's surprisingly large for a back-pack, it "expands" as necessary. I packed 3 days of summer clothes and toiletries no problem for all of our camping trips this year. The Molle system on the outside is nice for strapping on knives, flashlights, grenades... ya know, the essentials.

Todd - I've got three Maxpedition bags - a Doppelduffel, an Operator Tactical Attache, and a Jumbo Versapack.  They're all nicely designed bags, and each has a specific purpose for me.  The Operator turned out to be too large for where I wanted to store it while travelling, so am interested in passing that one on to someone who could use it.  The Doppelduffel is the nicest duffle bag I've ever had by far, and am about to order the smaller Fliegerduffel as well.  You're welcome to check them out any time.

Todd-

I forgot to mention that if you get an over the shoulder man-purse style, such as myself, you will need to decide how you like to carry your bag 100% of the time. The shoulder bags are "handed" in that they are optimized for left or right hand. Isn't a huge deal but when ordering stuff of the interwebs it sucks to get the wrong thing.
