Looks like good progress. It will be fun to follow along on the build.

The box is done,  its just about 4X6 feet.  Now for some sanding, priming, and painting.  Also on the list is to remove  some of the leaf springs to lower it and reduce bounce since it will not be loaded near its capacity.

After complete removal of the box:

Welding up the sides after they have been shortened:

Basic moc up, you can see there is still a bit or cutting to do:

Basic finished product:

Nice!

That really looks good. I see there may be a bright future for this little modified trailer. It appears to have more ground clearance than the trooper.

So I decided to put the trailer I purchased from auction on hold for awhile. However I picked up a Canadian M101 from Kadar and it became my focus. It was in decent shape and had a lid so it was a good place to start. It did need some restoration as it had a fair amount of rust. First thing I did was to clean up the axle and install new hubs that match the bolt pattern of the trooper. Next was to sand the trailer down to bare metal and then prime and paint. I also installed gas struts and mounted my RTT on the trailer. This is stage I, stage II will have a new rack built that lifts the tent up and will also allow me to mount an awning. This will allow me to use the privacy enclose that attaches to the tent while it’s mounted on the trailer. More to follow on stage II…..

Good to see it's getting more TLC than I was able to give it.

Its ready for a shake down run,  I think I will drag it out to the Quilomene this month!  Not sure what is going on w/ the TAT this year have not herd anything from Nate.  I am planning on using it on the WABDR-->Overland Rally trip and of course at the rally.  It tows great on road, so I am egar to get it off the pavement and see how it does.

Nice looking trailer. Have you messed with the suspension at all? I replaced the shocks and cleaned and removed two springs from the massive leaf pack. After that it actually soaked up the bumps pretty well instead of just bouncing. Removing one spring might be better if you anticipate heavy loads.

I was thinking about replacing the spring pack all together they are pretty rusted.  I have been doinga bit of research to find what I need just havent gotten quite there yet.  As for shocks I was reading somthing about hydrolic only shocks for off road trailers but again I have only  jus started the research.  Other than the tent I will have a couple jerry cans w/ some gas and probably water and a 5gal propane cylinder plus the other camping gear grill table chairs...  I am going to drag it out to the quilomene and see how it feels.

I've seen Caleb's set up in action a few times, it's very well set up.
