Given that it is slow on the board today I thought I'd ask about dogs and camping. I'm not overthinking this, but at the same time it probably warrants more consideration than I'm giving it right now. The last time I took a dog camping/hiking was 14 years ago so I'm looking to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious. - Crate to travel/sleep in. Soren is short enough that the crate should fit at his head/feet in the tent. - Dry food and bowl - Water dish and remember to offer regular water. - Leash for walking - Tie-out, since letting a pup run free unsupervised is a bad enough idea w/o letting him do it in the woods. Anything other than these obvious things? Doggie first aid? Any "tips" or suggestions on out of the ordinary things to train Khuno in order to be a good "camping" dog? I consider recall the most important "field' skill a dog can have, closely followed by obeying a "sit" at anytime since both of those can keep a dog out of trouble. Craig PS.
