My family and I went up to Lookout Mtn and then went hiking on Heliotrope Ridge today.  The weather and scenery was fantastic.  Wish I would have spent more time snapping pics, but here are a few from the day.

I'd HIGHLY reccomend this hike.

Yeah, we had to climb a really tall tree to get the aerial view like that. It was really cool how the trails was painted blue and that all the highlights were flagged.

It's good you stopped when you did. The blurry part looks like it is up to no good.

How many miles was the hike? My 4 year old is starting to get some serious endurance. We went on a hike a while back that was probably about 2 miles with 750 feet elevation gain. She had no troubles at all.

The hard part is that there is a water crossing that is pretty tricky at 2 miles.  If you get up there early enough in the day the water isn't too high, but by mid-afternoon the snow melts and the water level comes up.  You have to be careful to not get trapped on the wrong side.

Thanks for the info. It will definitely be on the list for down the road. I've spent enough time wading through rivers that not much scares me at this point, but my over-protective wife would put the kibosh on crossing that with the kids.

Mike- I should give that pic a little more context- that was about 2:00 PM on a really warm day (august). Cooler day, and like Craig said- getting back to the correct side before its too late in the day would make it easier.
