Cold for sure. NOAA forecast is 24 there tonight and a high of 44 tomorrow with what I'm sure will be a cold rain.

Hey, you're a dog. Whats up with that?

Thanks for the spot update, Nate. I tried Todd and Craig's phones last night to tell them how well our furnace is working, but got no answer. I'm sure they're enjoying themselves around a toasty juniper fire about now. Ribeye steaks and gas just down the road in xmas valley. Wish I was there.

Mrs. Rupe and I were in Christmas Valley on Sat 22 and Sun.23rd. We were over looking at another chunk of land, and it was cold. But not in the motel room LOL. The lake downtown CV was covered with ice and the geese were walking on it so I'm sure those guys on the run got a bit chilly!   Looks like they are on the top of Green Mountain when this was sent.

IT WAS FREEZING!

Literally, temps in the teens the first 2 nights. Water bottles frozen. What a great time!

I am Notoriously poor on writeups... Maybe Craig will do the honors since it was his first time on this route.  I may miss the details having seen it a few times.

Hint, Hint...

Oh, And Kevan, Thanks for the thoughtful message! I did not pick it up until today but it sure made me wish you were there with us. You came up a few times by the fire, in a very positive way!

Soren and I just rolled into the driveway about an hour ago. We had a GREAT time! Everyone including the kids came prepared for winter camping. I don't think I heard one person seriously complain about the cold the entire trip. The lack of precipitation made it very enjoyable.

Looks like my first SPOT message from Glass Buttes didn't make it through. We camped 3 nights. Glass Butte-ish area, Green Mountain, and outside of Sisters. We took some nice drives Overland and a couple of side-trips to Derrick Cave and Crack in the Ground. I'm not sure I'll have time to do a write-up for a while (Thanksgiving, and planning the Snowfari) but I'll try and upload a few photos.

Wish all of you guys could have joined us. It is a trip that would be fun in every type of rig on here including the Sportsmobiles and Pinzgauers. Great fun, and great route!

Oddly, We pulled into Green Mtn. thinking we wouldn't see anyone there this time of year. Low and behold, there was a taco camped there alone in the cold, nicely modded truck, and a friendly guy. Turns out he likes overland travel and we had lot's in common. Great guy, hung out with us the next day. Looking forward to seeing him here soon.
