I'm only 4 pages into this one and it's pretty good so far...great pics with lots of one and two line descriptions.

I'd have to imagine there is a thread somewhere from one of the 4wheelers, like one of the Rover guys maybe.

I get a kick out of reading trip reports from guys who are not all that organized like these riders. And apparently everything on 4 wheels is a "Jeep" unless it is sponsered by Ford and is carrying your camping gear.   I have a feeling that this is one trip I would not want to do, but will enjoy reading about.

I'd want a Pinzgauer  like Morris', with a custom camper w/ pop top to do this trip. Of course I'd do it on the Husaberg 390 same as the RR author, with a trusted friend driving the Pinz  (preferrably a mechanic/emt )  whilst I rode the bike.  Sheesh.  What a nasty trip.

A fella can dream, can't he...

BTW, the Rekluse the author refers to is an automatic clutch.  My brother in law installed one on his Husaberg and loves it.  He also then relocated the rear brake engagement to the left handle bar lever where the clutch lever used to be.  This allows for much better braking engagement capabilities.  For instance, super steep descents where you want to have both feet on the ground if possible.  Usually that would allow a rider to only engage his front brake and not the rear, or it forces the rider to make those quick decisions between using the rear brake or using the right foot as an outrigger as to not fall to the right. Tricky, especially on a bike with lots of travel.

It's also great for not stalling the bike on steep hill climbs etc.

Tom, Get a 710K the hard top version and put a pop top on it...best of both worlds.

I'll be traveling on part of the TAT with Nathan, would have been good to see you on that trip.

Thanks for the props, Morris.  Looks like a good trip if only I had more time off.

The 710k Pinz looks like the perfect rig for an expedition like that.

Those guys ran the heck out of those winches.  Apparently that Warn 8274 is pretty heavy duty.
