My nephew is in town from Pheonix and wanted to see the mountains. My nephew, son, dog and I jumped into the topless Jeep and headed up to Mt. Baker with the intent to hike up at Artist point. Unfortunately, the road to Artist Point was still closed due to snow, so we opted for a lower elevation hike, a trip up to Twin Lakes, and a trip up the Glacier Creek road instead. We started with a nice, but somewhat short hike. The boys came grossly unprepared in tennis shoes and cotton socks. They enjoyed it, but managed to get a lot of snow in their shoes. If you are thinking of heading out, boots and gaitors work better at this time of year. |
