My nephew is in town from Pheonix and wanted to see the mountains.  My nephew, son, dog and I jumped into the topless Jeep and headed up to Mt. Baker with the intent to hike up at Artist point.  Unfortunately, the road to Artist Point was still closed due to snow, so we opted for a lower elevation hike, a trip up to Twin Lakes, and a trip up the Glacier Creek road instead.

We started with a nice, but somewhat short hike.  The boys came grossly unprepared in tennis shoes and cotton socks.  They enjoyed it, but managed to get a lot of snow in their shoes.  If you are thinking of heading out, boots and gaitors work better at this time of year.

Our dog absolutely loves the snow.  He gets excited just seeing it out the window of the car.  He had a smile on his face the entire time out there.

Hiking in tennis shoes was cold.

After the hike, we headed away from the Mt. Baker ski area and headed up the Twin Lakes Road.  Great views of Mt. Shuckson, and lots of spring waterfalls, but snow blocked the road on the last switchback going up to the lakes.  We had to turn around.

Mt. Baker had been shrouded in clouds all day, and my nephew still hadn't seen Mt. Baker.  I decided to take him up to a spot where I knew the views were stunning.  Success!

While we were up there, I did a little exploring and found a great campsite once the snow melts completely.  I'll be headed back this fall for sure.

 Thanks Craig,

Nice looking stock Swiss 404, those go for about $10,500 in this market.
