I found this on Expedition Portal, and I don't know if this is news to anyone here, but follow this link to easily searchable free downloads of I think all of the USGS topo maps: http://store.usgs.gov/locator/ . They're good scans suitable for big prints.  I'm about to thumbtack up all of the maps for my next be trip

Hey, it worked!

You know you can overlay these in Google Earth to get them into 3D? You can also use Google Earth to create 3D maps of your GPS track. I love free stuff.

I already have all the Oregon USGS TOPO maps on CD, but this is great for Washington.

Ooooooo.... you can also use your GPS attached to your computer to track position on the map while looking at it in Adobe Reader! Sweet! I love free stuff!

How do you do this? I could only find the "image overlay" option and PDF files weren't compatible??
