Decided to start studying for an amateur ham license and so called my brother in law who is an accomplished ham operator.

In our conversation, he mentioned that there are combination handheld radios and GPS units available.

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on whether or not that would be a good combination for overlanding?

I am not aware of any combination HAM radio and GPS, but have not looked in a while. Garmin makes the RINO series which is a GPS/FRS/GMRS radio. But it won't do Amateur frequencies.

If you find the Amateur radio GPS combo, let us know...
