My sister e mailed me the other day wanting to know if I would like to get the kids one of these 2gopc's. She works for intel and can get a good deal on them. I was looking at them and wondering if they would be any good just to use as a GPS computer in the trooper? instead of my little Explorist.  Not really a tech savy guy so tell me what you guys think.. She told me she could order one for 65% off retail.

I'm not overly impressed with the spec's on that thing, but it looks like it would be able to run anything you wanted to, since it is running full on XP. But the 900mhz cpu is weak, and you would want to upgrade it to 1GB of ram if you wanted to load any large maps up in GPS software.

I would check the minimum system requirements for the GPS software you wish to use against the spec's of this machine, it might make more sense to look for an ultralight laptop like the IBM x200. It's more money, but a heck of a lot more computer than that thing. 4GB RAM, dual core 2.4ghz cpu, 120gb hard disk, etc etc.
