I've only recently moved to Oregon, so I've been trying to acquire some printed maps of backroads in the area.  I've always liked the format of the BLM maps, but the ones I'd be interested in Siuslaw area, Salem District Westside, Salem District Eastside are all 13+ years old.  Just from my knoweldge of paved roads in the area these seem to be woefully out of date.  I imagine that with heavy rains readjusting backroads, these are even worse for those.  But, are there better maps avaliable?  The USGS site was listing 1986 as the newest for the immediate Corvallis area.  They are topo maps, and the general land profiles don't change all that much, but I'd really like good maps of current Forest service roads.  Are there better/more current maps out there?

Thanks,

Jack,

Is this BLM land or USFS Land?

The best resource for *printed* maps of are the USFS Ranger District itself. Not the "Forest" maps, but the actual District Maps. You need to go into the District office or into the Forest HQ building to purchase them (not available online). They are hard to read, but are updated frequently for USFS employee use.

I'm not sure what maps the BLM has, but I'm assuming that they update their district/employee maps on a similar schedule.
