seems like pretty good deal I've been thinking of Garmin Oregon for myself but at that price this is pretty tempting for someone on the budget like myself.

Now you of course have to ponny up for these www.amazon.com/Garmin-MapSource-Topographic-Washington-California/dp/B001RYFYYK/ref=sr_1_1

or for these www.amazon.com/Garmin-Topographical-Washington-Oregon-microSD/dp/B001AQOHOI/ref=sr_1_2

I'v got the later but you can't upload them only plug in card and go.

wow lots of emotions here.

There is this $35 option as well www.amazon.com/Garmin-MicroSD-Units-Hawaii-010-C0483-00/dp/B000F7688G/ref=sr_1_15
Those are 100k which is in 95% of cases enough for automotive navigation. Covers all neighboring states as well

Craig, do you know how to use those? Specifically, on a Nuvi -- it's notoriously 'user friendly'. Meaning that I can't even save a track on it because that would be too complicated for the average driver, apparently......

I don't know how to use them on a Nuvi. I've experimented with them on my 60CSx but that was a couple of years ago.

Oh that's damn complicated.

Carefully open packaging. Don't hurt yourself with sharp objects....

OK (that's actually how I use it)

You basically take microSD card put it in supplied SD adaptor. Plug it in Nuvi. In setting menu you must deselect Street Navigator NT (otherwise it overrides additional maps) then select Topo 24 k. Then it works.

See this post from a little over a year ago for pics

Also newer Nuvies even show shaded releif as far as I know.
