I have found as a stop gap for "pre-making a trip with waypoints", expertGPS works great and Overland Nav. excepts the waypoints fine..... My question is when can I update...?

You have version 2.0.0 already. The announcement was delayed until I had the new website, video, and other promotional materials organized. We've been shipping version 2.0.0 to people that approached us for a while now. I started working on an email list yesterday. One of them is for existing customers to be notified of updates and new versions. I'll add you to that list next week. ExpertGPS is a good program for creating tracks until we support it natively. Another option is Garmin Mapsource as Overland Navigator has complete support for all Garmin Waypoint symbols. Craig

Sorry about that, yes I have the current version...We had talked of the updates and thought I missed something....Either way i have been practicing and will use it on our 100 mile overland trek in OR, I will write up a report for the Spacial Minds web site....

We've added Overland Navigator regional Map-packs covering the rest of the Western US to our webstore (http://spatialminds.com). Regional Map-packs include 1:250k, 1:100k, and 1:24k USGS Topos for a region. We now have support for the following regional Map-packs available: Washington Oregon California North California Central California South Nevada Arizona Utah Montana North Montana South Wyoming Colorado New Mexico North Dakota South Dakota Nebraska Kansas Oklahoma Texas Mid-Atlantic Region (District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware). Satellite Imagery Packs and US Wide Packs (1:250/1:100k only) packs are also available. Additional Regional Map-Packs are on their way...

Works very well with NGTopo I haven't tried it myself, but this guy claims you can get at least some Garmin Nuvi units to work with GPSGate in Garmin USB mode: http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8447#21301 GpsGate and GpsBabel both support (and work well with) some Garmin Nuvis: 1. Disconnect your Nuvi from PC 2. Start your Nuvi in Battery Mode 3. Put the Nuvi into diagnostic mode by pressing and holding battery icon for about 10 seconds. 4. Connect the Nuvi to your PC 5. Exit Diagnostic mode by pressing exit icon once 6. Your PC now receives GPS (position) data that GpsGate can receive. Note: - The first time you connect a Nuvi in diagnostic mode to the PC Windows will install a driver for the Nuvi. - The Gps Data signal is Garmin USB. Use Franson GPSGate or GPS Babel to convert it into NMEA 0183 or any other format your computer application (mapping software, logger...) needs. BTW: This procedure works 100% with Garmin Nuvi 2xx and 7xx. ATTENTION: The Garmin diagnostic mode is intended to bee used for service and troubleshooting purposes by qualified professionals only. Craig, just to clarify to run this on our laptop while in the car I need the Overland Navigator Software + Maps Pack + GlobalSat USB GPS Receiver? All 3 items for $116.85, sounds like a great deal to me and exactly what I am looking for!

Yep, that it. Well, any NMEA0183 capable GPS will work. So, if you have a GPS already you might not need to buy one. The GlobaSat USB GPS Receiver is a good one with a great chipset and is a good value at only $36. You can mix and match map-packs so you can install WA, OR, ID, US (1:100k/1:250k only), and Sat imagery all at the same time. The Sat imagery lets you zoom out further. Craig
