I should recieve it in the next few days as it shipped yesterday. I can give a full report after running it for a few days. The computer is Windows 7 home premium which allows for multi touch computing much like an iPad. It has a capacitive screen which feels more like a ipad, iTouch. 250GB hard drive will give me plenty of space for ON and my MP3 files. 1.86 GHZ proc and 2GB ram should make ON run pretty well. I'll buy the Globalsat BlueTooth GPS so I don't have to connect wires everytime I put it in. I'll hard wire the BT GPS in the truck so I don;t have to worry about changing batteries. I have not seen the screen in the sun yet but it is supposed to be anti-glare. It is a glossy screen however so we will see about that. Street deck is a wedge product that is the interface between multiple applications for car computing. Basically letting you use your computer act as your in-car entertainment device as well as navigation. It is touch screen driven to allow simple finger movements on the screen control which application you are looking at. Drawing a simple M on the screen with your fingers takes you to the music application. I am hoping it works as seemlessly as the videos I have seen of it portray. It also has street level GPS mapping and guidance, which I can use when not overlanding. When off-road, I plan on using Overland Navigator as I feel it is the best product for what we do, hands down! I'll probably use the SD card function for storing routes etc. With the Wifi connection, I can drag and drop the files I want from inside the car when in the driveway. I plan on using it in a Ram mount Netbook cradle mounted to my dash with a DC 12V hard wired to the battery. I should have 4 hours of use when I step away from the truck and power. I'll give reviews as I get it and go forward with it. I considered the Asus T91 with the swivel screen and 32GB SSD drive, but realized that for what I want to do, the 32GB drive (while bulletproof) was just too small for the multiple uses I have for it. Craig may chime in with other info on streetdeck and possibly better apps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRaNriKQZLs |
