Before

After

Id'n that purty?!

I cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more, painted (the gray is Hammerite), did a little detail painting for fun, replaced all the hardware with SS, and installed the bottom case rebuild kit, which is the bushings and seals.  I added a drain plug to the bottom of the gear case so I can drain the oil if it gets submerged, instead of having to pull it out and split the case.  I'm also going to drill and tap the brake shaft and install a bolt and washer to retain the clip ring, which is a known weak point on the 8274.  I still have to refurbish the solenoid pack and build new power cables.  The solenoid pack will be remote mounted under the hood, with a plug for the remote somewhere on the front of the truck and a set of controls in the cab too.

Another project nearing completion...

Very impressive Dan. Both of you do awsome work. Unfortunately, my specialty is diminishing things value.

Thanks y'all -- I loves me some praise!

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a motor from a 9.5. Apparently it is adaptable, and will give me a little more headroom for when the truck is loaded heavy.
