Well, physically anyway.  Still not wired, and obviously lacking a fairlead -- or a hole for the line...

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, it sits in nice and tight to the front of the truck.

It does tuck in nicely. That should work well on the trail.

NWP torched the opening for my fairlead and it looked horrible.  I wound up getting it re-cut with a plasma cutter for a marginal improvement.  I'd love to know how to do it properly.  How are you going to cut yours?

that's just because you haven't seen me. zing! tony-that bumper looks good. did you have to move the engine to the back to get the winch to fit? are you going to grind down those welds on the outer seams? nice looking work; i've never seen an 8274 or whatever it is integrated so nicely.

Very nice, Tony! It's always nice to get through the first steps and have something to show for it even if you have a few steps left. It looks good and should work great once you get the hole and fairlead installed. If you can install a hole, that is. Maybe you actually remove a hole. hmmmm. I will have to think about that.

The engine was fine, but I took the radiator out.  According to the gauge my engine runs cool, so I figured the radiator was just unnecessary weight.

It is a close fit, but that was the plan.  The winch clears the housing of the A/C fan by about 0.25".  Someone pointed out to me yesterday that a good frontal impact could put the winch into the radiator.  Actually it would be the A/C condenser that would take the brunt, but I get his point.  Still, the bumper is quite strong, and it's not really practical to build your stuff to stand up to any possible accident.

The welds look more pronounced in pics than in the real world, but no, I'm not going to grind them off.  I like the "built in my garage" look.

Craig, for the line slot I'm going to drill a half-dozen holes and connect them via cut-off wheel, and finish it with a sanding wheel.  I want the hole in the bumper to be nearly as smooth as the fairlead.  I gotta get my lazy arse up to Britt's and get my fairlead so I can mark the hole!

This photo was my inspiration, I think Dan put me onto it.
