Alert | Well I just ordered a winch bumper for the jeep so I figured I'd start a build thread. I went with a Rugged ridge XHD "stubby" bumper www.ruggedridgeoffroad.com/xhd/jeep-bumpers.html I like it because it is a modular design. I can add the side wings later if I want. I'll post up some pics when it gets here... | | Go play outside....

Alert | Have you thought about a roller furling (sp?) for that winch rope? If not, I'll trade you my 2000 Tacoma straight across for that old beater Rubicon . the Taco comes with a nice, nine year old roller furling! Dale p.s. I'm envious!!!! | | MY Tacoma Xcab just pushed through a decade of mostly trouble-free miles (110 K) as of 2/2010. My new interest, a 2002 BMW F650GS Dakar is coming along well. Too many toys, too little time!

Alert | I have a new milemarker roller fairlead that is all black and looks spiffy but it came with a military hydraulic winch for a HMMWV and doesn't line up with the hole in the bumper very well....oh well. As for the corona..we lost power all night last night so I had to make room for the milk and tonights dinner in my Edgestar fridge. I ran it all night on the portable jumper pac and only used about 25% of the battery. | | Go play outside....

Alert | Looks good Benny. You just like the stubby because it reminds you of your Trooper. :) The stubby w/ the wings and A bar on their web page looks pretty sexy. I'm not sure I could resist, but functionally, what you have works just as well.

Alert | Well I sold off the last remaining spare parts for the Jackaroo and used the money to buy a leveling kit for the Jeep. I went with the Teraflex leveling kit. After putting on the bumper and winch I didn't like the front end sag. I don't plan on lifting this thing and this kit seems to be a simple soulution to level the jeep out. It comes with 4- 1" spacers for the front, 2-1" spacers for the rear and new front sway bar end links. I think I'm just going to use a 1" in the front and see where that puts me. www.northridge4x4.com/proddetail.php Also I'm going to plug Northridge4x4 out of Bremerton...Awesome place for Jeep stuff. He has blazing fast shipping. I ordered the kit on monday and had it on Tues morning...I don't think I could have drove up there and bought it any faster...And unlike the other Chain 4x stores he seems to have the stuff in stock..not just for show in the front room. As soon as it warms up a notch I'll get it put in and some pics up. |

Alert | Did my own version of a Nascar pitstop today. I had 2 hours before I had to pick my daughter up from school. I decided I could do it so I went out and put the leveling kit on the Jeep. Finished with 15 minutes to spare, Whew! I like the way it looks and one added bonus, by lifting the front of the Jeep, it actually cut a little of the wind noise from the roof rack. This was a very easy install with minimum tool usage. |

Alert | I got tired of grinding on the trailer today and decided to tidy up the garage. I found the ski rack that came with my Jeep which I was going to sell, but decided to try something. I attached a couple of quick fists to it and would you look at that....sweet trail tool rack! and for free. It's lockable and comes off easy so I can leave all the stuff attached when I pull it off. For now all i have is a shovel but the hooks on one side will hold a dirty recovery strap pretty well. |
