I want to do this so much. I really like having the stock Series, but what I really want is a Series I can take overlanding. I think this is the way to do it. Keep posting the yummy pictures.

By the way, what engine are you planning on using?  There was an article in last month's LRO (I think, or maybe LRM) that had a guy in England with a Series truck with a 4.6L in it -- he did not use a Defender front end, and did not push the breakfast out any.

Ben

I'm thinking of using a canvas top and a external D90 style roll cage.  Easy to remove for summer time and to me looks a lot cooler.

I plan on using the engine and trans in my D1. It a 4.6 with HI torque cam and some other hot rod parts.

UPDATE.

Due to our rainy climate  I've given up on my canvas top. Also, I have acquired more Defender parts: 2 complete fender assemblies, a windshield frame, heater box, steering column, pick-up roof, and the front half of a roll cage.  Since I have so many Defender pieces I decided to use a Defender Bulkhead so I wouldn't have to modify my series II Bulkhead.  I am welding on a series II metal dash on the Defender Bulkhead so I still have the look of a series II interior.  Hope to have the welding finish  up by the end of the month and will post photos at that time.

By the way, I have a real nice series bulkhead and windshield frame if anyone needs it.

Suh-weet! :-) Glad to see it's coming along still. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I'd love to do this to my new truck one day, but don't have anywhere near the skill necessary to pull it off. I'm really impressed with what you are doing, but I think I need to stick to software/maps/navigation.

I found some to work on the rover. I welded on the series II dash, then I made an air ducked to run hot air from the Defender heater box to the Smith style in cab defrost and heater. Also hocked up the bulkhead vents to work with series controls.Next I plan on making an upper dash cover to cover up the wiper wheel box assemblies and hold the defrost vents.
