Thanks Craig for the stickers..I figured they'd look pretty cool on the Jeep. What do you think?

Looking good. That flat black is amazingly cool. I like, esp that it's vinyl.

Lost a little weight today. Decided to see what it would look like if I just took the front doors off. Still not ready to let the kids ride with no doors yet.. Fabbed up a mirror to stay legal hopefully. Doesn't look too bad...

 That looks really good Benny.

I like riding with no doors too, but only on the trail, a bit unnerving driving down the highway. I like the belief that I am safer with the tin all around me.  Do you have removable pins in the hinges for that?

I am suprised, I drove into work tonight all freeway and the wind isn't that bad. It's actually better than with the doors on and all the windows rolled down. It's not that bad at all noise wise either and it made sitting in traffic just a little bit enjoyable..

Morris, The doors have a removable nut on the bottom of the hinge pin. Requires a torx bit to get em off. Just unplug the power wires and with a little muscle the doors lift off.

Cool Benny.  I almost always enjoyed driving with my doors off when I had my CJ.  Great way to clean out all those old napkins and gas receipts...uh just kidding, I always had a secure trash bag...yeah that's it.

After the Fortune creek trail weekend I didn't like the way the Jeep sagged when loaded up. I began researching ways to up the payload capacity a little with out lifting it more than I am now. Sad to say there is not much in the way of stock replacement upgrades springwise. My only options were the OME heavy duty springs, but that would net me 3" of lift or airbags. I decided to go the airbag route for now. Snag no. 2, the Teraflex leveling kit has a pointed spacer for the rear coil to aid in spring retention and wouldn't work for the airbags. I contacted Dave at Northridge4x4 out in Bremerton to discuss some options. Teraflex had just come out with a spring version of their leveling kit, it comes with 2" over stock front springs and 1.5" over stock springs for the rear. He was able to get me just the rear springs at a great price. So I ditched the rear 1" coil spacer and installed the new springs. Needless to say I don't think I'm going to need the airbags for awhile.

I did find out that my rear shocks were toast! one didn't even extend when I removed it. So now my search was on for some new shocks. I really did my homework here and narrowed it down to the OME Nitros or the Teraflex VSS shocks. I decided to go with the Teraflex mainly to match the springs but Dave gave me another smokin deal on the set of 4 so it was hard to say no. Now the Jeep rides like it's on rails, Body roll is almost no existent on the freeway. Bumps that made the steering funny are now no sweat. You don't realize how wore out your shocks are until you upgrade them.

Now just to plan a day trip to test em out on the trail.

Got my new radio hooked up and working. There is not very many places in a JK to really mount anything without being in the way or buying an additional $200 worth of more crap to stuff in there. I decided to keep it simple and just bolt it to th etop of the dash. The piece that the radio is attached to is removable so if I change my mind I can just replace the cap.

Radio: Yaesu FT-2900r

Antenna: Diamond NR72BNMO Dualband

Now just got to mess with it to figure out the umpteen thousand features this radio has.....

Way cool that you are on the air now Benny!

That's a short antenna. Should be interesting to see how it works in the field.

It seems to recieve pretty well. I can get our east dispatch signal from Pierce county at my house in Oly. Haven't really tested the transmit out, the only person I have talked to on it has been across the parking lot at work...lol

Wish I had some time to plan a trail run soon. We could test your radio and I'd like to flex the RRC up a little. Next few weeks are booked for me though. :(

Just got the Jeep back from the dealer were I had the steering gear replaced. It's amazing how used to a crappy handling truck you get until you get it fixed and it's how it should be. Glad I had the extended warranty..I guess the JK's steering gears are barely adequate for the job and the 07's are prone to failing prematurely. Also finally got the pesky check engine light PO456 small evep leak code fixed..$2.34 cheesy O-ring and a $12 evap system detector and $100 for labor...OUCH.

How's this for an unscheduled mod? I was driving home from dropping my daughter off at school, when merging onto the 101 the jeep decided it wanted to turn left. I pulled to the side of the road and discovered 3 flat tires. Apparently someone lost a box of roofing nails while getting on the freeway. I had the Jeep towed to Les Schwab to see if I could hopefully get them fixed.....Nope. So out the door with some new shoes and some free beef. Ended up going with Toyo Open country M/T's in 285/70 17..Not sure why Jeep went with 17" rims as there is only a handfull of tire choices and they're all spendy. So far my impression of the Toyo's is good. They are very quiet for a mud tire.

Sorry to hear about the 3 flats... vandalism?

You will love those tires; I know I love mine.  You might notice a slight drop in fuel economy though sice they add ~40# of unsprung weight over any other M/T.

Nope...Roofing nails on the freeway. Ended up with 15 nails total in 3 tires. Hope someone didn't do it maliciously..
