Are there any 2m repeaters in the Washington Cascades? I noticed in OR that they have repeaters located way up on the mountains and that we were able to talk with Todd in Sherwood while we were still in Bend.  My repeater map book doesn't show any high altitude Cascade repeaters, but I thought I'd ask if anyone knew of anything.

I believe there is a repeater on Mt. Pilchuck, but I've never been able to reach it.  Most of the Washington Cascades are Wilderness, which may explain why many areas aren't covered.

Craig, there is a repeater on Darland Mountain.  We drove right past it.

Thanks Mike. Can you hit that repeater from your house?

When I get a chance, I'll install a little map application that will allow us to add each repeater to a map.

I'm hoping to find good repeaters for each of the major passes and also for each of the major trail areas (Liberty, Lake Cle Elum, Manastash, Quilomene, Ahtanum, etc).

Mike's link had one for Quartz Mountain and several other places in the mountains around Yakima. I definately need to get them mapped, and confirm that they are operational. Makes this stuff much easier. :)

This is a great site, organized by state and location. Far better than the glove box edition of the ARRL Repeater Directory. There are often coverage notes under "Comments".

Yeah, I have one of those in my truck. Even with it, I've never found a repeater that allows me to talk up and over the mountains the way we did on the Christmas Valley trip. I'd love to find repeaters to cover:

Ellensburg to Issaquah/Bellevue (I-90 corridor)
Monroe to Leavenworth/Wenatchee (Hwy 2)
Darrington to Lake Wenatchee (Up and over Glacier Peak)
Sedro Woolley to Winthrop (North Cascades Hwy)
Area all around Mt. Baker
Southern passes as well...

If anyone has any hands on experience with repeaters that allow you to speak from one side of the mountains to the other I'd be very interested.

Looking at the I-90 corridor:  Anyone ever used the Snoqualmie Pass Repeater?

OK... this is a pretty cool website.  It has repeater coverage areas AND if you have APRS you can type in your call sign and it will show all repeates that have coverage of your last heard location.  Too bad I don't have web access when I need to find a repeater!  :)

So, for example http://k5ehx.net/repeaters/qrepeater.php?coverage=0&clat=48.424857&clong=-122.332738

The 3 repeaters I notice that have a HUGE range on the west side of the mountains include:

Tiger Mountain Repeater (near Issaquah) on 443.3250.  Covers all the way over to Ellensburg, Manastash ridge, Liberty area, and up above Lake Cle Elum (Fortune Creek trail, etc).

Capitol Peak Repeater (near Olympia) on 145.4700.  Covers the area from my house to Portland, OR.  The entire southern WA cascades, over to Eburg, Manastash ridge, Liberty area, and up above Lake Cle Elum (Fortune Creek trail, etc).

Lyman Hill Repeater (near Sedro Woolley) on 444.5000 (2m freq too).  I use this one a lot, and actual coverage seems a lot smaller than the 100 mile radius shown.  I'd be curious to test the range sometime though.

ok... I'm done talking to myself in this thread.  :D

This is one of my trusted links whenever I need radio info : www.northwestradio.net/intercept/

Hit up the forums, I haven't done much on the ham side of the site sticking more to the scan side.
