So, I'm surprised that there is no place on the internet where I can listen in on a repeater or two in the area.  Am I missing something?

I've found several places that are broadcasting shortwave stuff from international locations, etc...   But unless I'm totally missing something, I can't find any 2m or 7cm listening posts.

It will download as a streaming channel to iTunes. I think it is working.... yep, just heard the W7OTV ID... no traffic, but hey, it's a start.

www.echolink.org/

Ben, check out Echolink.  It is an application that allows internet connected computers to be able to access various repeaters.  It has been quite a while since I used it because it is PC software and I have a Mac, but I remember it being pretty nice.

I ran into that term last night, I'll check it out.

If it is what I think it is, it is more in line with what I'm looking for. Those two links I posted there did have some local conversations going on last night, so I got what I was wanting.

I'm looking forward to getting my radio set up in my truck... but gosh, some of these guys need to get out more.... know what I mean?

Ben,

Have you checked out Echolink? I just signed up and have been prowling around the repeaters some. It would be great to make contact with someone from NWOS. My call sign is KF7LJI.

I think I will start a thread specifically for echolink communications here. It would be fun to see who has repeaters near them or is directly connected into Echolink. I think Echolink will make a great substitute for a base radio @ the house and I can just focus on buying a good mobile for the Jeep.
