My favorite beer for all times but especially the colder months is brewed here locally.........well local for me. Walk'a'bout Brewing Co.'s Redback! 9% of pure heaven! The problem is that you have to buy it by the keg. Wait..........I guess that's no problem after all.

Daily Drinker: Deschutes Black Butte Porter. It's certainly a "polarizer" beer. Love it or hate it.

Newest Treat: Walking Man's Black Cherry Stout. Holy cow. Absolutely awesome beer. I got this one last time we were in PDX at Henry's 12th st Tavern- I think I could eat there every day simply for the beer selection!

Craig, have you tried anything from Chimay? Theirs was the first belgium beer I ever had and I was sold! I just can't afford to drink it with any regularity...

Just tried one of the locally brewed ales, Avalanche Amber style ale from Breckenridge Brewery. 3.2 ABV but good by my standards.

Mikeller Black. This is a dusey fellas, 17.5 Alc. The nose has a slight chocolate hint followed by a deep roasted malt flavor. There is a slight hint of figs as well (its a Belgian beer so this is not uncommon due to the yeast strains used in Belgium). The finish is surprisingly sweet with a slight alcohol bite lasting throughout. If you guys can find this stuff i would try it, but be fore warned its BIG, in flavor, Alc% and price...

Alright, heres another odd ball fellas. Birra Artigianale Demon Hunter(yes its Italian). Nothing too spectacular in the taste, just a great hearty well rounded if a bit malty beer. The mouth feel is about like a melted milk shake, it is quite thick. The real stand out is how this beer sneaks up on you. It dosnt drink like its alcohol content suggests it should. If you can find it i say its worth a try.

I'm going to throw this one out there....I was at Trader Joes the other day and decided to try their "Simple Times" lager.. At 3.99 for a 6 pack, I figured I wouldn't be out alot if it sucked. I have to say the stuff is pretty good. I think I found my campfire beer. Oh and it's also 6.2%

Nice call Benny. Upon your 'review', I promptly picked up some Simpler Times as well and concur...a new campfire beer has been found. It'll never replace Keystone Light, but I do think it has 'possibilities'.

If Simpler times had an elk or a trout on the label, it'd be a done deal and I'd drop KL like a hot potato.  Yea, I drink for the image

the simpler times is good stuff. it's like a stealth version of steel reserve. the problem is that it tastes like corn. i am sad to ruin it for you by pointing it out,  but you'll notice it more and more with each six pack consumed. it would be good beer to throw in the cooler to have as the back-half of a camping session. start with something more palatable and then when you run out, you won't care so much about the flavor of corn. it'll be like reuniting with a long lost friend. *hiccup*

I am ready for my next bottle of Indica IPA from Lost Coast brewing. No pic to share but it's tasty stuff and a healthy 6.5%. Very approachable IPA, just enough hop bite, a little on the malty side for good flavor.

I am a big fan of Drop Top and Pyramid Brewery Hef.  I also really like the clipper gold hef from Maritime Pacific Brewing in Ballard.  http://maritimebrewery.ypguides.net/page/nun9/Brewers_List.html
