While walking through Costco the other day, I noticed they were carrying a Camp Chef brand combination two burner gas cook stove and oven.  I believe the price was around $149.  I have a Camp Chef portable unit that is aluminum/stainless steel and puts out a total 50,000 BTU.  It has served me well for many, many years.  But this new unit with the oven is intriguing!  I always wanted to bake bisquets, bread, etc. in the field.

Does anyone have any experience with this new (?) Camp Chef combo?  I'd like to hear about it if you do.

Dale

I saw it, thought it looked interesting, but I just bought a stove, and I don't think I really need an oven! Anyway, I'd like to hear if anyone buys one as well.

I also saw that thing and I was hoping that someone would buy it. It looks so cool! It's just a little big.

I believe this is the model that Mark has been using for a while now.  Here is a link to his website, so you can see some pictures.  Here is another link to his review of the item.  Scroll about halfway down the page on the review and you will find his comments.

I have baked cinnamon rolls in the oven and it worked fairly good.  I also like the quality construction of the top burners.

Just to visualize:

Thanks all for the input. Nate, I read Mark's comments. Thanks for directing me toward them. My only issue is size too. But it would make a perfect combo with the Engel fridge.

We've got the Camp Chef Expedition 3 burner. The thing is a tank! It puts out enough heat for 3 huge crab pots. We've even used it for canning pickles out in the back yards. My wife wants the stove and the next time we see it on sale will probably get it.

Based on my experiences with Camp Chef gear... I would say it may just replace Coleman as the go to when thinking camping equipment. It's built to last.

I love mine. The oven works great. I even used it to bake a frozen lasagna and fresh cookies when it was -10 degrees while deer hunting in montana. the oven works just like a gas oven at home would.

Now the cook top on the otherhand...I've been pretty disapointed with it. It is very, very prone to blowing out in the slightest breeze.

Dale, I don't know if you have made a decision yet, but my little sister is an inventory control specialist (I think that's her title) at Costco in Seattle. She goes camping about every third weekend. she bought that stove/oven and then gave me her coleman 2 burner because she had no use for it any longer. She loves the oven and,as far as I know, has no complaints at all. hope this is helpful.
